Quick Mini Haul and Preview Tutorial

Now this is not a haul with a bunch of stuff I do not need. I am trying out for drill team and needed a few things. I am also on thesdearch for Wet 'n' Wild's Mega Lash mascara (because it's waterproof and I don't have a waterpoof mascara) and then I will be all set. Neither my nearest Target, nor my nearest Wal-Mart had it.

The first two things I picked up are extremely boring. A black shirt and pants. Both from the brand BCG at Academy. We are required to wear all black on the last day of tryouts so that's what I picked up.

Also, throughout the rest of the tryout process, we are not allowed to wear Soffe's unless we have leggings underneath. I picked up this pair from Kohl's. They are capri black leggings.
(excuse the rotated picture, does anybody know how to fix it when it's already on Blogger?)

The last ting I picked up with this Elf Brightening Eye Quad in Drama. I don't have any smokey eye shadows and we are required to wear competition makeup the last day of tryouts. I picked up this one because it was cheap.

I was messing around with my "competition" makeup, and came up with a "cute" look. I will be trying it out, again, next weekend to make sure i have it perfect, and will be doing a tutorial. Here is a quick preview.

I hope you enjoyed this post!

Getting Rid of a Sunburn

The first time I was outside during this spring time, I got a sunburn. It wasn't a normal sunburn either. It was the tops of my feet, the backs of my leg, the side of one arm, and half my face. You couldn't have just burned me all over so it would be normal?
Anyways, that caused me to remember all my mom's secrets (and some help from the internet) so that I could get rid of it fast!
1.  Whenever you get home, take a cool shower. Some people think taking a hot shower will help., but it will just irritate the skin.
2. Once your skin feels cool and you're not in pain anymore, take a loofah or a body scrub and exfoliate  your skin. This step can hurt if your sunburn is bad, but you need to get rid of the dead skin.
3. Apply either gel straight from the aloe vera plant, or a gel that has aloe vera in it, and rub it into your skin. The fiorst layer you should rub till it is absorbed by your skin, but then apply a second, thick layer that you want to leave there.
4. Dress in loose clothing so you do not irritate the skin.
5. Drink lots of water. You can get dehydrated easily when you are sunburned.
6. If you go outside, make sure you wear sunscreen . You do not want to make the problem first.
7. Reapply the aloe vera gel every hour or so for the first few days. After that, use an aloe vera lotion till it is completely gone.
Also, even if you do not think you are sunburned, it is good to complete some of these steps (such as the cool shower and aloe vera gel) because a sunburn doesn't show up right away.
Hope you enjoyed.

Sorry for all the non-beauty posts, but I just felt the need to tell of you my situaion.
I will NOT be able to post regularly until the end of April, or maybe even later, maybe mid-March, or even after the school year is over.
I am auditioning for Drill Team and that is a long process which will go over the next two weeks.
Then I need to study for some end-of the year state mandated tests at the end of April. After that, mid-March, I have my last state mandated test, and after that, I have a total of 5 more tests dragged out for the rest of my school year.
I apoligize, but my school comes first.

Preventing A Sunburn

These are just a few of my tips on how you can protect your skin from sunburn.

1. Try to stay out of the sun during the hottest time of day. It not only will be less fun but there is a better chance of getting a sunburn. This times usually ranges from around 11:30-3, depending on where you live.

2. If you can, try to stay covered, except for things like swimming. Tight clothing can be irritating in the heat, so wear loose flowy things while outside.

3. During spring, apply sunscreen heavily and often, as your skin is still getting used to the rays. If you want a tan, give your skin a while to adjust, before lowering your SPF level.

4. Use an SPF of 45+ daily.

5. Use a different sunscreen for your face than your body.

6. Whenever you get home, smooth all aloe vera lotion all over your body. Even if a burn doesn't look like a burn, it can develop, and the aloe vera will help keep it mild.

Favorite Spring Nail Polishes!

Sunday, March 25, 2012

Hiya! These are all of my favorite spring nail polishes. These are not my own pictures, but I own ALL of these polishes in my collection.

1. Mint Green. I love mint green, especially on my toes, and mint green is a really popular color for spring time. This one is Revon's Minted. It is a little bit sheer, but I'm willing to work with it.
2. "Perriwinkle Shades." Perriwinkle mixes my two favorite colors effortlessly. The only perriwinkle type shade I have, is more of a dusty blue, but it still works for me. I might purchase a true perriwinkle shade, sometime, but not now. This is Ulta's Bam-Blue-Zled. It's gorgeous and again, it's a dusty blue with a hint of purple.

3. Pinky-Lavender. One of my favorite pink colors, is Lavender Marquis by Sally Hansen. It's a pink, with some purple, green, blue, and yellow duochrome. It's really cool, but it takes a few coats.
4. Nudes. I love shimmery-champagne colors during the spring, and one of my all-time favorite nail polishes is Revlon's Creme Brulee.

5. The last nail polish I've been loving is Sally Hansen's Coral Reef. It is a gorgeous bright coral color.

Haul

Yep. I broke my Project Pan. I'll save the excuses and just get unto the haul.
The first thing I picked up were these shoes from American Eagle by Payless. I also had a 20% off coupon. Their adorable jean colored peep-toe shoes with ruffles and a little bit of bling.

This shirt I got from Ross (one of my favorite places to shop). It's an XL when I normally wear a M, but it's just so big and flowy, it's adorable. The lace looks gorgeous when you wear it over bright tank top.

This picture does this article of clothing no Justice, but it's an adorable navy blue light jacket-type-thing that I found at Kohls.

For spring time I needed a new pair of shorts, and these are the brand Levi's also from Kohls. I like the distressing and their not TOO short.

Then I just got a pair of yoga pants because they were on sale for like $12.

Then I just got two pairs of Soffe's, one in "Vivid Blue", and then just a plain black pair.
At Ulta I got two nail polishes from Sally Hansen. They are the Extreme Wear line, which I am super impressed with. The first color is Blue Me Away!. It's pretty similar to Slapper, based on online swatches, from Butter London which I love.

This one is on my nails right now, the color Coral Reef. It's been on for almost a week, with a cheap base coat, and there is only little wear. It's a bright coral, that looks different in different lighting. Sometimes it looks really orange, others really pink.

I have the Wet and Wild Wild Shine nail polish in Black Creme and was super impressed so I just picked up French White Creme.

I don't have a liquid liner, so I tried this one by NYX. It was only $4.50 and it is in the color Extreme Black. It's super great, lasts a long time, but still washes off easily.

Then I got a Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze. It doesn't last all day on me as eyeshadow, and it creases in a few hours, completely fading by the end of the school day.,, but I love it as a cream eyeliner.
Then I got these shadows from Covergirl in Crystal Waters. The white isn't pigmented at all, and the green isn't that pigmented, but workable. The blues are gorgeous.
I also got this Rimmel Natural Bronzer in Sun Light. It is the perfect bronzer for fair skin. It swatches kinda orange, but when it's on your skin it's absolutely gorgeous. It has the faintest amount of shimmer that I love, because it gives you a glow, but actual shimmer isn't detectable.

The last thing I got was the Covergirl Contouring Trio in Purely Plum. The middle pink is a go The darker one is a little hard for me to use, but it is nicely pigmented.Gorgeous every day glow, and the light peachy-pink is a really pretty highlighter.

I hope you all enjoyed.

Beauty Wishlist

This is m,y currfent beauty wishlist. Mainly high-end products. I currently am not buying makeup, but even if I was I doubt I would splurge on any of these things, ebcause I am just so cheap. :D I thought it would be a simple post to do. So if any of you want to send me any item on my list...(:

The first item is the Naked 2 Palette. I really like the colors of these shadows more than the original Naked palette.

The next product is the Butter London nail polish in Slapper. It's the prettiest bright blue I've ever seen.
The next nail polish is China Glaze's For Aurdrey. Everybody and their mother has this polish, but me.

The next product is the Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour blush in Exposed. I currently only have 2 blushes outside of this big palette thingy, and this one is so gorgeous!

I have the Urban Decay Primer Potion, and I don't really think it fulfills everything I need. Once I run out, I think I'll try the Too Faced Shadow Insurance. If it doesn't work, I can return it and just get the UDPP again.

Whenever I saw this palette, I started drooling. The colors are gorgeous! It's the Too Faced Naked Eye Soft and Sexy Palette.

I am a sucker for chcolate. Who wouldn't want a bronzer that smelled like chocolate? I've heard great things about the Too Faced Chocolate Solei Bronzer.

Then is Benefit's Benetint. This supposedly gives you a gorgeous rosy glow.

If I had money to invest on brushes, I would invest in these 2 brush kits from Sigma. The first one is the Synthetic Essential Kit, and then the Sigma 12 Brush Kit in Make Me Crazy because I love purple!

So that's it! Of course I would love to have all the makeup in the world, but this is what REALLY stood out to me.

Review: Revlon Colorstay 16-hour Eyeshadows in Brazen

Hiya!
Today's review is on the Revlon Colorstay 16 Hour Palette in Brazen. The colors are very pretty, neutral colors. I thought they were pretty unique, but as I was swatching them, and rearranging my makeup collection, I realized they are less-pigmented versions than the neutral side of Wet and Wild's Comfort Zone. I'm not at home right now, but I may compare them in a post soon. Anyways, this palette comes with a powdery yellow highlight, a sheer peach, a medium-bronze, and a dark brown. The shades really compliment blue eyes. All of the shades are pretty dry and to get good pigmentation you may have to dig a little bit more.
A lot of drugstore shadows do not last all day on my extremely oily eyes, even with a good primmer, but these last as long as I want them too.
The two biggest pans (peach and yellow) apply rather patchily, and you have to layer multiple times. Because of this, there is also some fallout, even though there is not a huge amount of shimmer. The darker shades perform a lot better, and both apply smoothly with minimal to no fallout.
The packaging is a lot better than the old Colorstay packaging. It feels fairly sturdy for a drugstore palette, and I like the fact that there is a different amount of each shade. The only problem is, that based on the face chart in the back, the lid color is the second to smallest shade. I personally use the peach as the lid shade usually, but if the bronze is supposed to be the lid, there should be more of it.
This palette is around $8 and I think that these are worth checking out, but this particular palette may not be the best buy. The colors are gorgeous, but there is a cheaper alternative that has 4 more shades, for a smaller price.

Product: 3.5/5
Pigmentation: 3.5/5
Texture: 3/5
Lasting power: 5/5
Application: 3.5/5
Packaging: 4/5
Overall: B
The pigment isn't the best for the two largest shades, but the others apply beautifully.
