Review: L'Oreal Eye Makeup Remover Review

This product is honestly one of my most hated eye makeup removers. Ever. I wear contacts and if I get this in my eye, it stings. Really badly. Now I don't even wear waterproof makeup, and this makeup remover barely got off my eyeshadow and mascara. Add in a longer-lasting eyeliner like my Physician's Formula Shimmer Strips and you have to use so much product to even get it off.
I really think this makeup remover does a terrible job BUT I have heard the L'Oreal Nakeup Remover in the green bottle works a lot better. This retails for around $6, but it truly isn't worth that.
I will say, this makeup remover doesn't cloud my vision, isn't oily, and when I'm not wearing contacts it doesn't sting.
Packaging isn't that important, but I think it's a little tacky with the top, but that could just be me being picky,

If I had no other makeup remover I would use this, but otherwise, no thanks.

Review: Pantene Pro-V Medium-Thick Hair Style Heat Protection and Shine Spray

Sunday, February 26, 2012

Let me just start off by saying, I do not have a lot of experience with heat protectants. Thhis is the only one that I have owned, but I have tried a few of my friends. family, etc. I do not have medium-thick hair, but this was the only one at my Wal-mart and silly me didn't even read the bottle when I picked it up.
The packaging is rather normal, but the nozzle is pretty annoying. It is awkward to hold and spray, especially for the back of your head, and it sprays in a single stream as opposed to misting out.
I personally spray this all over my head, starting at the top going around 7 times around my head, then I move the bottle down a bit and go around my head again, and then move it down once more doing the same thing. Then  I take a wide-toothed comb and comb through my hair to distribute the product.  do not recommend using a fine-toothed comb or a brush for this step as you want to leave the product in your hair. Then you need to let it dry. I typically apply heat protrectant before I do my makeup, and then after my makeup I style my hair.
Before I started watching youtube videos I didn't even know there was heat protectant for your hair, but as soon as I bought this one and starting using it, my hair felt so much better and softer. I don't see much of a difference in shine whenever I use this.
The smell is pleasant, and not over powering. I didn't even know the scent until I picked up the bottle before writing this review and smelled it. It smells clean with a little bit of citrus in it.
The cons for me is that it takes some wor to get it evenly in your hair and if you straighten your hair before it is completely dry your hair sizzles.

Product: 4/5
Packaging: 2/5
Overall: B-
The product's packaging isn't very well thought out and the product doesn't give a lot of shine to the hair.

Choosing the Best Dress for Your Body Type: Part 1

Sometimes it can be really hard to dress for our body type. Especially whenever picking out formal dresses. Whether your going to prom, a dance, or even just a special dinner, I hope this guide helps you out. These dresses are all from promgirl.com. Promgirl.com actually has dresses seperated by body type, so I am actually going to use that. Also, just because I say this dress is best for this shape, doesn't mean you can't wear what you want to wear. These are just my tips. http://www.promgirl.com/shop/body_types

Pear shaped: If you are pear shaped than your lower half of your body is generally bigger than your top. Specifically your hips are bigger than your bust, and you have a fairly defined waist. It is best to wear form-fitting dresses on top that go out at the waist to a more flowy design.

This first dress is a more casual dress that is knee-length and really adorable. It flows out at just the right point. http://www.promgirl.com/shop/dresses/viewitem-PD246030

This next dress is a bit shorter, and looks perfect for a formal occasion. The neck line is really cool and unique. http://www.promgirl.com/shop/dresses/viewitem-PD693423

This next dress is really great for a girl that wants a louder dress. This dress has a lot of drama and isn't quite ballgown, but getting there. http://www.promgirl.com/shop/dresses/viewitem-PD734136

If you want bling, this next dress is for you. The entire top is encrusted in jewels. http://www.promgirl.com/shop/dresses/viewitem-PD734136

Want to be a princess? Check out this ball gown. Super gorgeous and comes in 4 different colors. The top is more dramatic but balanced out with the larger skirt. http://www.promgirl.com/shop/dresses/viewitem-PD737502

Slender: You don't have too many curves and your waist isn't very defined. Dresses that are form fitting or dresses that give you the illusion of a more defined waist are the best bet for you.

This first dress is for you totally-dramatic and over-the-top kind of girls. It has tons of beading, but the

This next dress is a bit more tame and old-fashioned. It's casual enough for a fancy dinner, but could be pulled off at prom or another big event if you're more laid back. I just love the lacy design and it's tight, without being too tight. http://www.promgirl.com/shop/dresses/viewitem-PD734508

Because this next dress is made out of two different patterns it really help to give you the curves you want. Your waist is a lot more defined where the two patterns intersect; plus it's a fun dress! http://www.promgirl.com/shop/dresses/viewitem-PD612212

This dress is really unique, but it gives you the illusion of curves. It's really adorable but not everybody could wear it. http://www.promgirl.com/shop/dresses/viewitem-PD606803

This final dress has to be my favorite. The jewel-encrusted bust line is absolutely stunning and who doesn't love a ball gown?

The next body type is busty. Now whether you want to draw attention to your girls or draw attention away from them, you need a dress with a bit more support. Look for dresses with stylish straps or if you want that strapless dress, one that sits a bit higher.

This first dress is absolutely stunning. The halter neckline is stylish yet provides extra support. The dress is quite simple, with only a bit of beading on the hip and halter.

The next dress has a little bit more bling and is also a ball gown.

This next dress is a little bit more laid-back but it still has some drama.

This dress is my favorite. It has a lot of drama, and it isn't for someone who wants to draw the attention away from the bust. It's really unique and gorgeous.

This dress is a mix of both worlds. There is jewels along the top, but they aren't POW in your face. Plus it has a really flowly sleeve that adds a touch of glamour.

Keep a look out for part 2 of this fashion series, with the body shapes petite, hour-glass, and apple!

Review: Clean and Clear Morning Burst Shine Control Facial Cleanser

Hey lovelies!
Today I am going to be reviewing the Clean and Clear Morning Burst Shine Control Facial Cleanser. Before I get too far into the review, I would just like to state that this product is one of my absolute favorite products to use on my face. Ever. But the rating does not reflect that because it doesn't do what it is said to do.

This cleanser is super great for a pick-me-up, whether it's morning or not. I use this cleanser every morning, and also before special events and even sleepovers. It not only wakes you up physically, but somehow makes your skin look more vibrant as well. It leaves your face feeling fresh and clean and it smells fairly good, citrusy.
It isn't meant to cure acne, so it doesn't, but it sure doesn't make your acne worse. It is also really cheap and can be found at basically any drugstore with other Clean and Clear products.
Now why is this product rated so low? This product does not control oil whatsoever. If you do buy this product, don't expect your face to magically be matte, but honestly, it doesn't bother me.
The packaging is nothing special, but it is bright and has a pump which is always nice.
Product: 2/5
Texture: 5/5
Packaging: 4.5/5

I really like this product but it only does half of what it says it does.

What to wear to work out?

I recently got an email (email me at soblushable@yahoo.com) asking what I wear to work out. I currently go to the gym and do a typical cardio workout 2-3 times a week, and I also do dance every Saturdays. I will be talking about my "makeup" looks, hair dos, and fashion. Although I don't really care, I do like to look acceptable. Especially for dance.
Starting with the fashion. For the gym:
I always wear a pair of Soffe shorts. There are a lot of knock-off brands but the traditional Soffe brand has much better quality. They have a lot of different colors and even fun patterns. You can find them basically anywhere, Wal-Mart, Target, Academy, even Kohl's! They are 50% cotton and 50% polyester with a strip of exposed elastic at the top that folds over. You can find them for around $7-9.
http://www.yipesonline.com/products/soffe-short-1

For the top, I typically just wear a t-shirt. You know those big unisex t-shirts they give you for different events, so I wear those. Nothing too exciting.

The next thing that is really important for sports, is a sports bra. I typically look for my sorts bras at Academy as they have a huge selection, but they can get pretty expensive. My favorite brand from academy is BCBG. Their bras range from $7-$13. I have a few and they work really well and last a long time.
http://www.academy.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_10051_68978_-1?color=Caviar&N=12504180+4294966537

For shoes I just wear a typical pair of tennis shoes.

My hair goes up in a ponytail, using lots of clips to keep up my short hair. I also use an elastic headband to put away those flyaways.

On to dance!
My dance class is a Drill Team Prep class and we don't have a reall dress code, we just wear whatever is comfortable. Here is what I wear:
Shorts: I typically wear two pairs of shorts. I know, kind of wierd but it makes sense. I wear Soffe's and underneath my Soffe's I wear a pair of spandex. Whenever you move around a lot in dance, you don't want anything..showing, but I don't feel comfortable in just spandex. So I wear both!
http://www.academy.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_10051_68429_-1?color=Caviar&N=12504177
For the top I wear the same thing I do for the gym.
For dance I wear a pair of jazz shoes.
My hair is also the same but for dance I typically put on a bit of makeup:
Under eye and blemish concealer
Powder
Bronzer
Eyeliner
Mascara
And then for dance I typically use my Bath and Body Works body spray in CarriedAaway.

That's it! If you have any requests comment down below or email me!

NOTD/Nail Tutorial: Revlon's Really Rosy and Zoya's Pippa

Friday, February 24, 2012

Hey lovelies!
I haven't been in to painting my nails for very long at while, but I have just recently starting doing simple "nail designs" (if you can call them that.) My favorite of which, the simple polka dots. Now I don't know about you, but I don't have the time everyday to paint every single nail and then put polka dots without them turning out horrible. So an accent finger is a wonderful way to that. Plus, using an accent figure can help you incorparte hard to wear colors easily.

Start with two coats of a rosy nail polish on all your fingers but the ring finger. This one's Really Rosey from  Revlon and it is one of my favorite colors. It works well for all seasons and is darker than your traditional pink but still very neutral.

On your ring finger, use two coats of your favorite pale yellow nail polish. This one is Pippa from Zoya. It is super impressive in the pigmentation and quality. This color can be a little bit hard to wear so I love incorpating it into different nail designs.

Use a bobby pink to put polka dots on top of the yellow. Use your rosey nail polish, as it ties the whole look together and makes the accent finger super cute.

Then your done!

Review: Vera Bradley Medium Cosmetic

Monday, February 20, 2012

I had a coupon for $20 off any $20 or more purchase from Vera Bradley, so of course I had to pick up a cosmetic bag. This is the medium cosmetic (there is also a small and large) in the color Ellie Blue. This cosmetic bag retails for $25 and has a really cute quilted deisgn. On all the medium cosmetic, there is a stripe of different pattern down the front where as the small cosmetic has it horizontally.

This cosmetic bag is machine washable and lined on the inside with a clear material that you can just wipe off if any makeup spills or breaks (God forbid).

I haven't actually used this yet as I haven't gone anywhere yet, but I did see just how much makeup I could fit in it. It holds A LOT.

As you can see it fits a whole bunch of makeup. My powder, foundation, cream shadow, tinted moisturizer, two lipgloss, mascara, brow gel, primer, two concealers, two pencil liners, chapstick, highlighter, blush, eyebrow kit, and 4 eyeshadow pallets. I would have included brushes but I just washed them because I had no school today.

The only thing I wish it had was a small pocket on either the outside or the inside for something like bobby pins or something small, but all in all it's a great cosmetic.

NOTD: Ulta Celubutante and Wet and Wild Black Creme

I really wasn't feeling a single nail polish color today. I used to do gymnastics, and purple and black were our colors, so they hold a special place in my heart. This is 2 coats of Ulta's Celubutante (a gorgeous medium purple) and Wet and Wild's Wild Shine nail color in Black Creme.

DIY: Lip Scrub

Hello lovelies. Recently I was looking online for a DIY lip scrub. I realized half of them had Vaseline in it. That was a problem for me, why? Vaseline isn't edible. Now I'm not saying I eat my lip scrub (well, maybe a little), but anything that is going on my lips that I need to scrub, is going to get a little e in my mouth. I do not want to swallow Vaseline. So, I took out that ingredient, and created my "Vaseline Excluded Lip Scrub."
This lip scrub is made with ingredients you probably have around your house. You can make it a one-time use, or make a bigger "batch" and store it in a container.
The very first time you scrub your lips, you will probably have to use more to get off all that dead skin. Then twice a week, use the lip scrub again and your lips will be baby smooth.
This "recipe" includes:
  • sugar
  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • honey
The sugar actually exfoliates your lips, the olive oil helps to restore moisture, and the honey keeps it all together and helps it taste yummy.
Now, why create all this if you could just use a tooth brush? Using a toothbrush hurts. It actually, hurts. I was super surprised whenever I used this lip scrub the first time, because it didn't hurt at all. Also, with a toothbrush, you never know when to stop. With this, just scrub until the super has dissolved.

For the first time use I take about:
1 teaspoon of super
1 teaspoon of honey
and half a teaspoon of Extra Virgin Olive Oil. You can multiply that to create some for future uses, or you can cut it in half if you have exfoliated your lips in the recent week or so.
Then take about a dime sized amount and work it into your lips. Continue to scrub until the sugar has dissolved. Make sure you get the corners. If afterwards your lips feel super smooth, than you can save the rest, or if your lips aren't completely smooth yet go again with dime-sized amounts until you feel it's good.
Wash it off with some water and apply a generous amount of lip balm. You need to constantly reapply the lip balm for a few hours.

That's it!

Review: Maybelline Define-A-Line eyeliner in Brownish Black

Saturday, February 18, 2012

I was looking up this product to see the price on Ulta, and did not find it. It is still on Maybelline's website so I do not think it is discontinued or anything...but unto the review:

This eyeliner from Maybelline claims to have smooth.precise application with all day wear. I do have to say, this eyeliner is super creamy and pigmented. All day wear? No.

The packaging is a slim green tube with a cap in whatever color you got. I love the packaging as it stand out from your other eyeliners, but the color is still clearly visible. It has a smudger on the end, but as opposed to smudging it completely takes of the liner for me. It retails for around $6, depending on the store,
This shade is brownish black. I don't think I would consider this any where near black as it is a brown. I would have called this dark brown, but the color is gorgeous.
This pencil is  retractable eyeliner. you do not get a whole lot of product, but you don't waste any sharpening.

The second swatch is one swipe, the first one is slightly built up. The texture is fantastic and there is no need for building up more than 2 times.

After letting the eyeliner set for a little bit, I lightly ran my finger over the edge to simulate wear. As you can see it smudged right off. This happens on your eye within the first 2 hours of wearing.
.

Overall, this eyeliner is not worth any price you pay for it. The eyeliner doesn't last at all, although the texture and pigmentation are right on.

Product: 1/5
Pigmentation: 4.5/5
Texture: 5/5
Lasting power: 0/5

No point in an eyeliner that doesn't last.

Best Purse For Your Life Style

Friday, February 17, 2012

Are you a busy bee that shops a lot? Do you carry around a lot of stuff? What kind of purse matches your lifestyle best?
Well this post is here to talk about some of your personal best choices! I will be breaking it up into 4 main categories.:
Hands free: Are you always worring about losing your purse? Your bag needs to go across your body and be hands-free
Hoarder: Are you on of those people who carry around everything but the kitchen sink? Your bag needs a lot of space.
Organized: Are you always losing things? You need a bag with lots of pockets and storage areas.
Traditional: Do you just want a traditional purse, with average space and nothing special?

Hands-free:
This category is great for students who are constantly going from class to class. You don't even have to take your purse off. This is also great for busy-bees who are constantly moving around. Another really great plus, is that for school, nobody will look at you wierd if you bring your purse with you to the bathroom. You know, on that special time of the month.
The first one is the Vera Bradley hipster. Many girls in my school have this purse. I don't, but it is very popular and comes in a variety of different colors. It even comes in a mini version. The big size is $59. http://www.verabradley.com/product/Category/Crossbody/Hipster/1001054/defaultColor/Island+Blooms/pc/638/c/0/sc/883/p/1001054.uts
This color is Mocha Rouge.

If your looking for something with a little more room. this Faux Leather Metallic Messenger bag from Forever 21 is really great! http://www.forever21.com/Product/Product.aspx?BR=f21&Category=acc_handbags_shoulder&ProductID=1005757782&VariantID=

Another really cute cross body bag from Forever 21 is this neon one! http://www.forever21.com/Product/Product.aspx?BR=f21&Category=acc_handbags_shoulder&ProductID=1000033478&VariantID=

The last cross-body option is this beautiful bag from Kohls. http://www.kohls.com/kohlsStore/handbags/crossbody/PRD~954330/Chaps+Pleated+CrossBody+Handbag.jsp it comes in 3 great colors, and is super cute.

Hoarder: Whether you are just a person who likes having a bunch of extra things or you HAVE to bring around a lot of things for whatever reason, you need a BIG bag.
This first one is from Kohls. It is a Rosetti Isabelle Sterling tote. This bag is extremely fashionable and comes with a lot of space. http://www.kohls.com/kohlsStore/handbags/totes/PRD~357471/Rosetti+Isabelle+Sterling+Tote.jsp

This next purse is from Forever 21. It is a nautical themed puse, accordingly named Nautical Hobo Bag. This bag is super adorable. Whether you want to pack some basic for the beach, or just walk around shopping in the summer, it's super fashionable. http://www.forever21.com/Product/Product.aspx?BR=f21&Category=acc_handbags_hobos&ProductID=1005757347&VariantID=

The next category is organized. If you are a super messy person. a bag with lots of packets may be your friend. Or if you just hate not being able to find what your looking for, this is your best bet.

Vera Bradley bags in general usually have a lot of pockets on the inside. In this post I will feature the Mandy. It's roomy but also has a bunch of pockets lining the inside and outside to keep you organized. This color is Rythym and Blues. http://www.verabradley.com/product/Category/Handbags/Mandy/1001149/defaultColor/Rosy+Posies/pc/638/c/0/sc/641/p/1001149.uts

The next purse is from Kohls and it is a satchel style. It has 3 pockets and 2 pen holders on the interior. http://www.kohls.com/kohlsStore/handbags/satchels/PRD~989577/Simply+Vera+Vera+Wang+Ribbed+Satchel.jsp

The last category is just the Traditional bag. This is me. I just want a normal bag, with normal space, and cross body is not needed for me. Not much is to be said about this purses so I'll just post the pictures and links.

Everyday "Pop of Color" Eye Tutorial

Sunday, February 12, 2012

Hey gorgeous girls! I know that when I was first starting out with maeup (and sometimes even now) I had trouble finding the balance between natural and fun. I mean, when can you wear fun makeup if not when in your teens?
This look features some of my favorite eye produ I know the picture quality isn't the best (still working on getting my real camera up and running). So let's get this party started!.
Start off with using a primer. I love Urban Decay Primer Potion and the ELF eyelid primer, but you can use whaever you have.
Start with a shimmer-champagne color all over the lid.

Add a medium-brown into the crease and a light eyeshadow in the inner corner and highlight.

Apply a gel blue eyeliner to your upper lash line. Make the line as think or thin as you like.
Add a little bit of the medium brown on your lower lash line.

Add mascara and black eyeliner on the lower waterline.

As you can see, this look is pretty natural, but a little bit more fun than your everyday look.

Products used:
CoverGirl Shimmering Sands Trio
ELF Professional Eyeshadow Brush (lid)
Ecotools angled Crease Brush (crease)
Ecotools Smudge Brush (highlight)
Ecotools Define Bursh (lower lash line)
Physician's Formula Shimmer Strips Custom Gel/Creasm eyeliner for Blue Eyes(blue eyeliner)
L'Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes in Noir Black
Ulta Mineral Eyeliner in Black (waterline)

I hope you guys enjoyed this tutorial and followmy blog for more reviews and tutorials coming up!
